Prevention of Cruelty.

This is our mission, and as such forms part of all areas of our work.

The five towns under our jurisdiction are visited by mobile clinics, each town receiving two visits per month.  When it is warm enough, dip baths are set out and pet owners are shown the correct way to handle and dip their dogs.  At the same time, injured or sickly pets are examined and, if necessary returned to our Ashton clinic for treatment.  Bookings are made at mobile clinics for sterilising of pets. Sadly many animals are also handed in as “not wanted” or no longer affordable.

Neglect of farm animals is unacceptable -  owners will be prosecuted.

Volunteers build a decent shelter for pigs on a farm where gross neglect was the order of the day.

Food was brought in for these emaciated cattle. Clean, dry straw at last.

10th May, Four piglets are confiscated from a small farmer, who had already received written warnings regarding the neglect of his animals. The following pictures tell the story.

4 piglets removed from filthy living conditions. Each piglet is dipped and treated for mange.

A nasty sore caused by barbed wire is healing nicely An injured puppy recovers in our clinic

Pro active inspections take place at the same time as the mobile clinic, as abused animals are not brought to the fore, but have to be searched for.

No dog should ever have to suffer as this one has.

Mange is wreaking havoc with this young dog's life.No home for any animal, and cetainly not for 2 Egyptian geese.

Reporting by the public of alleged cruelty, abuse or neglect is also vital to our work.  In making such reports, please give as much information as possible and an  accurate address or location.  All such reports remain anonymous and we will give you feed back as soon as we can.

Visits to farms are made and farmers are encouraged to contact us so that all their workers’ animals can be checked and assistance given.
